Sustainability and SDG

What is UN SDG?

The UN SDG stands for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These goals were set up in 2015 and are intended to be achieved by the year of 2030. Circulove wants to lead the revolution in bringing these goals to the forefront and core of skincare.

Of these 17 goals, Circulove actively participates in 3 of them in their everyday business development. The 3 goals include Life Below Water, Life On Land, and Responsible Consumption and Production. The mission doesn’t end here; Circulove aims to achieve more SDGs to transform our world starting with the skincare industry.

UN SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production

Circularity model, the root of our mission, is based on responsible consumption and production. Our goal is to extinguish practices like “take-waste-make” and instead, replace them with a fully circular economy. Some initiatives we’ve started to prevent waste are to use upcycled materials, packaging with ocean waste plastic, recycled shipment packaging & carbon neutral shipping, green chemistry factory, and limiting the amount of products we produce and sell.

We’ve audited our supply chain and targeted “hot spots” where practices can be improved to offer a better condition for not only our customers, but also our Mother Earth. To start, in our production alone, we use artisanal small batch productions to ensure all of our products are sold before we project another batch. Our factory is Green Chemistry meaning we reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals in our products and manufacturing practices. Additionally, all our products are Fi-Natura certified ensuring that raw materials are naturally and organically sourced and all synthetic materials are terminated. Lastly, our production uses green Eco-Electricity, renewable water energy electricity for our business and factory.

Not to mention that we intentionally kept our skincare line to a limited amount of products. This is because we do not want to promote overconsumption. Instead, our 4 products are all that you would ever need in your skincare line. The minimalist approach encourages you to finish every last drop of the product. And when you do, the packaging is fully recyclable – from the sticker down to the airless pump.

UN SDG 14 Life Below Water

The goal of UN SDG 14 is to “conserve and sustainably use the world’s oceans, seas and marine resources” (

We have a partnership with  a company Ocean Waste Plastic (OWP) which employs local Indonesian fishermen in collecting pieces of plastic from the Java Sea. These pieces of plastic waste collected by the fishermen go into our packaging that are composed of 30% Ocean Waste Plastic (OWP). In turn, OWP ensures fishermen get paid a fair living wage.

Oceans absorb around 30 percent of carbon dioxide. In order to combat the increasingly dangerous impacts of global warming, Circulove actively reduces carbon emissions in the supply chain operation. From using plastic packaging that is lighter to ship which results in less energy consumed, to shipping carbon neutral, Circulove does our part in protecting our oceans.

UN SDG 15 Life On Land

At Circulove, we care about the animals that roam our land just as much as those organisms under water. Our production involves no use of animal products or animal byproducts. Instead, over 85% of our ingredients are sourced locally, using the wealth of natural resources that Finland offers. Additionally, we ensure that the efficacy of our products is achieved by also using upcycled products such as oils.

Additionally, we have forged strong partnerships with local fishermen, young entrepreneurs, women co-ops, and chemists to produce our key products. Unlike other brands, we know every single hand involved in our supply chain while complying to Fair Trade practices. This also  ensures that our products are made to the highest quality standards. Through our sustainability initiatives, we have also planted 2,160 trees, and we hope to continue planting more.
